Interview: Captain Herb Barnum…WWII Pilot

Recently. I had the opportunity to interview and photograph Captain Herb Barnum, a WWII pilot.  Although he didn't fly fighters or bombers, his job was nonetheless vital to the war effort.  He was a C-47 cargo plane pilot, newly assigned to England just after D-Day when he was suddenly "re-assigned" to be the co-pilot for General Omar Bradley.  The aircraft, crew, and mechanics…all were transferred to 12th Army Group, and he spent the rest of the war flying the General around the European Theatre.
