Recently I had a potential client (Bose Aviation) ask if I'd like to participate in their Instagram feed, as a guest photographer. With the advent of social media, this is becoming more and more a common occurrence, and I agreed. Not having done this before, I was a bit skeptical as to how it might actually play out, but since they have 23,500 followers, it seemed a worthwhile endeavor to pursue.
The above image of this Spartan Executive was created last year during AirVenture 2015, and at the time, I wasn't all that enamored with it. I only made one frame from this angle, and didn't even process the file until last Saturday, almost a year later. The resulting image was pleasing enough so I posted it to my Instagram feed, where the aforementioned marketing manager saw it. With my permission, he posted it to the Bose Aviation Instagram feed, and in 20 hours, it has had 1,258 "likes."
To say that I am astounded would be putting it mildly…but such is the power of social media these days. I now realize, with measurable results, how an image can literally travel around the world in hours, and bring attention to my work that would never have happened otherwise. My attention shall now be much more oriented to participating in efforts such as this, and I'm Thankful! to Bose for allowing me to participate. Look for more such interactions during AirVenture 2016, where I hope to have additional images featured on their feed.
If you or your company, are not on Instagram…you should be!
